Valbella-Safiens Platz

Good to start with uphill when morning is chilly:

Confirmation, still in CH:

A disadvantage of travelling light, no stocking up with local alp cheese:

Back on track on historical roads:

Impossible not to stop:

Lots of climbing today to get to Glaspass:

Another place hard not to stop, well doesn’t take much in long climbs, self serve farm store:

Finally at the top:

Things getting a little more serious:

And more serious:

Time to walk:

Time to B&B you want to see when it is 4:54pm and energy about to get low:

  1. I’ll have to get back to Glasspass, I missed the self-serve shop when I was serve in August this year! In the direction you did, long but regular uphill, steep and rarely cyclable descent on Safien. Ok, next time, I’ll do it in the opposite direction. At least, I won’t be carrying the bike in the descent, which is always miserable…

    1. True the descent is not a bike highlight from a point of view of being on the bike. Good to do once, impressive how the trail is constructed, but next time I would try to arrive to Safiens Platz via a trail from the north, I’ve heard much more cyclable even though it adds many kms!
